What to know
Going from lossy WebP to lossless PNG cannot recover detail that was already thrown away, and the file usually gets larger rather than smaller. It is worth doing when you need transparency or intend to edit further, not to improve quality.
WebP does both lossy and lossless compression and supports transparency, typically landing 25–35% smaller than a JPG of equivalent quality. Every current browser supports it.
PNG compresses losslessly and keeps full alpha transparency, which makes it the right choice for screenshots, logos and line art — and a poor one for photographs, where it produces far larger files than JPG.

Are my WebP files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser using the Canvas API. The file is read into memory on your own machine and never sent over the network, which you can confirm by opening your browser's developer tools and watching the network tab stay empty.
Does converting WebP to PNG reduce quality?
PNG is lossless, so nothing is degraded during the conversion itself. Any quality already lost in the original WebP cannot be restored, however.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no limit imposed by the tool, because there is no server to upload to. The practical ceiling is your device's available memory — very large images may be slow on an older phone.
