Are my BMP files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs inside your browser using the Canvas API. The file is read into memory on your own machine and never sent over the network, which you can confirm by opening your browser's developer tools and watching the network tab stay empty.
Does converting BMP to PNG reduce quality?
PNG is lossless, so nothing is degraded during the conversion itself. Any quality already lost in the original BMP cannot be restored, however.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no limit imposed by the tool, because there is no server to upload to. The practical ceiling is your device's available memory — very large images may be slow on an older phone.
